Whe Detox Makes You

Detox Done Right:

The Order Matters More Than You Think

by Kari Barron

If you’ve ever tried to detox and felt worse instead of better…

More tired.
More foggy.
More inflamed.

You’re not alone.

And I want to start with something that may bring you a lot of relief:

Detox is not the problem.
Doing it out of order usually is.

Your body was designed by God to remove waste every single day. But when we skip steps… or try to rush the process…

That’s when detox can feel overwhelming instead of healing.

Let’s walk through what detox actually looks like—
in the right order.

Prefer to watch instead of read?

I’ve created a step-by-step video series walking you through the correct order of detox:

The Correct Order of Detox (Playlist) on Dr. Kari Barron's YouTube Channel

Start here:

  1. Water - the foundation
  2. Reducing toxin intake
  3. Opening elimination pathways
  4. Infections (coming soon)
  5. Toxins (coming soon)

Step 1: Water (The Foundation)

Before anything else… your body needs hydration.

Every detox pathway depends on water:

  • your kidneys filter waste through fluid
  • your lymph needs fluid to move
  • your bowels need hydration to eliminate
  • your cells rely on it for function

Without enough water… everything slows down.

This is one of the simplest steps—and one of the most overlooked.

Step 2: Reduce Your Toxic Load

Before we try to push toxins out… we need to stop overwhelming the body with more.

This means looking at everyday exposures like:

  • fragrances
  • cleaning products
  • skincare
  • plastics (especially with heat)
  • processed foods

Because if you’re constantly pouring toxins in… your body is always playing catch-up.

This step alone can begin to:

  • reduce inflammation
  • improve energy
  • lighten the burden on your detox systems

Step 3: Open Elimination Pathways

This is a step most people skip. And it’s often why detox feels so hard.

Your body eliminates waste through:

  • colon
  • liver
  • kidneys
  • lymphatic system
  • skin
  • lungs

If these pathways are:

  • sluggish
  • congested
  • or overwhelmed

…and then you try to detox…

  • toxins don’t leave well
  • they recirculate
  • and you feel worse

This is where women often experience:

  • headaches
  • fatigue
  • brain fog
  • bloating
  • irritability

Not because their body is failing, but because it needs more support with elimination.

When these pathways begin to open, women often notice:

  • clearer thinking
  • more regular digestion
  • less heaviness
  • more stable energy

Step 4: Address Infections

Now we move into a step that many people don’t expect - infections.

When we look at the body through the lens of the Root Cause Landscape, infections can include:

  • viruses
  • bacteria
  • fungal or mold-related issues
  • tickborne illnesses
  • and parasites

All of these matter. All of these can place stress on the body and affect:

  • energy
  • focus
  • immune balance
  • and overall function

But the reason I often focus on parasites first in this step, is because of the role they play in the bigger picture.

Parasites are like trash trucks that never exit, constantly leaving a trail of refuse and debris in their wake. They:

  • hold onto toxins
  • carry bacteria and other pathogens
  • create an ongoing burden in the body

So if parasites are present and we skip this step, the body may still be holding onto the very things we’re trying to clear (particularly dangerous heavy metals).

This is why, for many people, parasite and infection support comes before deeper toxin detox.

Not because the other infections don’t matter—

but because parasites can interfere with the body’s ability to fully clear what’s underneath.

And once that burden begins to lift, the body is often in a much better position to move forward.

Step 5: Deeper Toxin Detox (Organ to Cellular)

Once:

  • hydration is in place
  • toxic load is reduced
  • elimination pathways are open
  • and infections are addressed

now the body is ready for deeper toxin detox.

This is where we move from primarily supporting the organs of elimination into working more deeply at the cellular level.

This can include:

  • heavy metals
  • environmental toxins
  • stored chemical exposures

And when done in the right order…

the body can process and release these more effectively.

This is where detox becomes:

  • more targeted
  • more efficient
  • and less overwhelming

Because we’re no longer just trying to “flush things out”...

we’re supporting the body at the level where those toxins have been stored.

Why Order Matters So Much

If you skip ahead and try to detox toxins first…

without supporting the earlier steps you can experience:

  • stronger reactions
  • more fatigue
  • more inflammation
  • more frustration

Because detox is not just about removing things…

it’s about whether your body has the capacity to process and eliminate them well.

What Most Women Actually Want

The women I work with don’t just want a detox.

They want to:

  • think clearly again
  • have steady energy
  • feel less inflamed
  • feel calm in their body
  • reduce pain
  • and trust that what they’re doing is actually helping

And when we follow this process step by step, that’s when those things begin to happen, usually faster than they expected. A grand majority of my clients experience major energy shifts and more good days, within a month following my coaching.

Stop Guessing—Start Understanding

One of the biggest reasons women stay stuck is this:

they’re guessing.

Guessing:

  • what their body needs
  • what’s really causing symptoms
  • what to focus on first

And that leads to:

trying → hoping → feeling worse → starting over

That’s why I use the Root Cause Landscape: Core Health Blood Panel

It helps identify whether your body is more challenged with:

  • infection stress
  • toxin load
  • cellular energy issues
  • or how well you're utilizing nutrition

So instead of guessing you have concrete direction.

Final Encouragement

Your body was created with wisdom and intention.

You are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Detox is not a race. And your body is not something to fight against.

When we:

  • remove the blocks
  • support the pathways
  • and listen to what the body is communicating

healing becomes possible.

I’m praying for you—

for clarity, direction, and real progress in your health.

Summer Energy Low? Here's Why by Kari Barron It's been a minute since I sat down to write one of these. I usually post monthly, and then June happened — I got so deep into filming a four-part video series that the blog took a back seat. So first, thank you for your patience. Second, I actually think that series is worth catching you up on here, because if you didn't watch all four videos, you missed some things I think you need to hear. The whole series was called Designed to Heal, and the theme was simple: summer wasn't meant to feel like this. Here's the short version of what we covered, and why it matters for you right now — not just in theory, but this week. Summer is supposed to feel like freedom. For a lot of you, it feels like more demands with less of you to give. We started the month naming something most women won't say out loud — the guilt of being exhausted during the "happiest" season of the year. Pool days, cookouts, road trips, everyone else seeming to come alive — and you're counting down to bedtime. I want to be blunt with you: that is not because you're weak, not trying hard enough, or just getting older. Summer removes the routine that's been quietly holding your body together all year. No school schedule, more heat, more social pressure, worse sleep. It doesn't make you sicker. It pulls back the curtain on what your body has been managing the whole time. That's actually useful information — if you know how to read it. Normal on a lab report is not the same as well. This is the one I hear about the most. You've sat in an office, described everything — the fatigue that sleep doesn't touch, the brain fog, the weight that won't move, the moods that don't feel like yours — and been told everything looks normal. I need you to hear this: conventional labs are built to catch disease. They are not built to answer "why don't I feel well." Those are two different questions, and you've been getting answers to the wrong one. Your instinct was right. Something has been happening — it just wasn't being looked for with the right tools. Something specific is draining you, and it's usually invisible on a standard panel. If you've been doing everything right — clean eating, better sleep, the supplements you researched — and you're still not better, you're not failing. You just haven't found the hole in the boat yet. You can bail water all day, but if there's a hole, you're still sinking. For a lot of women, that hole is a hidden infection pattern (viral, bacterial, parasitic, even tickborne — I've got my own story about that one) or a toxin load the body has been storing away to protect your vital organs. Both take constant background energy to manage. That's why the fatigue doesn't add up to what you're actually doing day to day. Managing symptoms and healing are not the same — and this summer can still be different. We closed the series with the difference between coping and actually healing. Coping means you've built your whole life around the exhaustion — skipping the afternoon plans, keeping caffeine close, saying yes and dreading it. Healing means removing what's actually in the way so your body can do what it was designed to do. God didn't design you to merely cope. Psalm 139 says you're fearfully and wonderfully made — not to survive the day, but to thrive in it. You are not too far gone, not too complicated, not a lost cause, and not behind. Want the full teaching behind any of these — the client stories, my own tickborne story, the faith close? All four videos are on my YouTube channel: Why Summer Feels Harder Than It Should , Your Labs Came Back Normal , The Quiet Drain , and What If This Was the Summer Everything Changed? So what do you do with all of this? Every one of these conversations lands in the same place: you need a real starting point, not another guess. That's exactly what the Root Cause Landscape blood panel gives you. It's $99, and instead of asking "does this person have a disease," it asks what's actually standing between your body and the health God designed it to have — hidden infection stress, toxin burden, whether your cells are producing energy the way they should, whether your body is actually using the nutrition you're giving it. We don't guess. We investigate. 👉 Order your Root Cause Landscape here And if you'd rather understand the test before you order it, I host a free Live Open House every month where I walk through the markers and answer questions live — no cost, no personalized review, just clarity. Go to the Events page and sign up. If any part of this recap felt like it was describing you, that's not a coincidence. Your body has been telling you something for a while. It's time to have the right tools to hear it. In His grace, Dr. Kari DISCLAIMER: Dr. Kari Barron is a Board Certified Doctor of Natural Medicine, not a medical doctor.
